Just coming out of an artist's block, I was able to make this. It's my rendition of Donkey Kong and Mario (then known as JumpMan).

This is all there was back in the day, no Bowser, no Toadstool, no Mushroom Kingdom. Just a man, a woman, and an ape. DK is one of my favorite Nintendo characters to draw.

I put some effort into the background this time to emulate the arcade levels of the original Donkey Kong.

Enjoy!

Could you do a version where, instead of using a Hammer, Mario groundpounds the platform?

Neat! I like how you interpreted the old-school DK, rather than just drawing modern DK in the old-school setting...

Simply amazing Donkey isn't to fat. Yet not to skinny its perfunctory. The shading is an automatic 5 stars. And it fits the purpose of the game!!!

Is it just me, or does Kong somewhat resemble a Wookiee?

Nice job. Glad to see somebody actually referring to Mario as Jumpman from the DK Arcade days (1980 first release). Great drawing.
